Han Yajuan

About the Artist

Han Yajuan (Chinese, b.1980) is a Contemporary Chinese artist. She paints cartoon renditions using Japanese anime style. Several Chinese artists born after 1980 have been referred to as the Cartoon Generation. Their cartoonish subjects feature disproportionate body parts. Yajuan was influenced by the works of Manga cartoonists and the kawaii concept of emphasizing what is thought to be cute. Hello Kitty and Pokémon are examples of this style. A professor named Victoria Lu first named the genre Animamix.

Yajuan's art features female subjects engaging in leisurely pursuits, such as shopping, playing, and dancing.
